Elias turns 6 (months)!

img_0327.jpg

Elias is 6 months old already, can you believe it?  It’s crazy it’s gone by this fast honestly.  He’s getting big.  He’s 90% in height, and normal (50%) in head size and weight.  He’s still scooting around the house, but he’s getting much better/faster at it.  He’ll “chase”/follow Moseley around now and grab onto his ears/tail/paws.  Moseley has been very good about it, but will lick Elias.  He’s starting to push himself up on his hands and knees more now, so crawling might be coming soon.  He can now situp a bit better and is working on talking.  Well, he talks up a storm, but we have no idea what he’s saying.  He’s also showering with me now.  I’ll shower then when I’m clean Nikki will hand him in.  He seems to really enjoy the spray as well.

senior I

Well I finally bit the bullet and bought a film scanner.  Well it’s not really a film scanner, it’s a scanner that can scan film (or so the geeks will tell you).  But it works and it scans slides, negatives (B+W or color) and most importantly 120 and 35mm film.  What’s 120?  Well it’s medium format film.  I have a Bronica MF camera I shot a lot when I lived in Montana.  It’s actually impressive to see the quality of the scans I’m getting as I haven’t touched film since I went digital ~5 years ago…  There is a difference for sure, and I’m actually considering shooting film now alongside digital…

Anyway, enough about the boring technical mumbo jumbo, on with the trip!!!  When I was in MT I was getting a photography degree.  I knew my senior year meant 2 HUGE senior projects for my photo classes.  But huge just meant a lot of shots and prints to show/share so I figured I’d take a killer road trip, photograph it, and use that as my matterial.  I sat down with an atlas (I would have KILLED to have google maps back then) and drew a route up across the country.  I had one major problem, that beeing all my spending money came from summer jobs, so I couldn’t just take weeks off for something like this.  So I planned one week, and pushed the route as far as I figured it would go.  Nikki was in for the trip as well and here’s what the route ended up being:

We went from RI to Chicago, then Denver, then Zion, then the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Fran, Redwood, Mt Rainier and then back to Bozeman.  It ended up being 5,500 miles in 9 days and one hell of a trip.  Sure we would have loved to have more time, but we loved every second we had and still love going on similar trips now (see last summer’s Canada trip).  Anyway, enough of these booring words, here’s the photos (I got an ‘A’ BTW ;) ):

EAJ 25 week update

img_9106.jpg

Well Elias is almost crawling at this point. He’s up onto his hands and legs, and can move, but not both at the same time. He’ll scoot from one end of his blanket to the other in less than a minute and loves following Mo from one side to the other. He’s also eating more food now (3 meals a day of “real” food). He doesn’t like carrots so far, and beans and rice wasn’t a hit either. He seems to love peas and apples, though. He also made it out for the first time on avalanche yesterday. That was a big event and Elias really seemed to enjoy the boat. He loved the breeze and the movement. His only issue was that he was asleep when we needed to tack for whale rock, and the noises woke him up. But we were on avalance for a good 4 hours to sail/motor around Jamestown and watch the around the island race. I took a ton of shots of the boats racing, you can check them out here. I also shot the fools rules last weekend after the update, so check those out here.

Old Slides

img_9865.jpg

Nikki and I were going through some old slides and I took some time to take some pictures of them to share.  These are all from 1999.  It’s pretty interesting to see 10 years later all my favorites have Nikki in them.  We’ve been to some incredible places.

RI Airshow 2008

img_0868.jpg

Went to the RI Airshow on Saturday. We had a few members of my photography site come over to shoot it as well, then we had an awesome BBQ on the deck afterwards. We all had a ton of fun, and got some decent images even though it was hazy. Most of us also got sunburned pretty bad as well as we all forgot lotion in all the excitement. Enjoy the shots below!
