Elias is a scooter!!!

img_9568.jpg

Well Elias can officially move himself around now.  Not far (yet) but he can scoot on his belly across his blanket on the floor.  He’s now chasing down the toys he’s most interested in including Moseley!  Mo has been very good with Elias.  The only issue so far is he loves to lick Elias including on the lips…  We don’t mind most other places (his hands and feet seem popular) but the mouth is a bit much.  Moseley seems to be getting it a bit more (lots of “no!”s) and is very tolerant of pokes to the eyes and grabbing on his ears and paws.

Yesterday was Dinner with the Abrams (sushi!) to celebrate Elias and having Nikki back to work full time.  Yes she’s been back over 2 months now, but everything is finally relaxed enough now that we could make it over with Elias for a dinner.  We had a great time, great food, and it was certainly fun to get out of the house.  THANKS!!!

2008 Newport Folk Festival (featuring Jimmy Buffet!).

We had an awesome day on Sunday.  Elias got to go for his first boat ride and ended up going for 2 boat rides!  We went to the Newport Folk fest.  The first ride was Grandpa Jake’s dinghy out to the second boat, Pop pop’s Whisper.  Dad and I went for a sail on sluff for a few hours and had a blast.  We timed it just about perfectly as we got back to Whisper after putting sluff to bed with about 20 minutes to go before Jimmy Buffett played.  Everyone had an awesome day and Elias really seemed to enjoy the boat.

July 4th 2008!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!  The 4th also happens to be Andy’s birthday (60 this year, but don’t tell him I told you!) so it’s always a big party down at their beach cottage.  Unfortunately this year the motorboat was stuck to the trailer (the people who painted the bottom put it down wet apparently) so it was more of a hang our and eat BBQ party than the typical play in/on the water affair.  For us that was quite fine as we had Elias with us for the first time, so it was a fun day of hanging out and letting everyone else hold him and pass him around.

When we got home, it’s was just in time to watch our local neighborhood fireworks.  Our neighborhood lines the edge of a private local course.  They have fireworks for the 4th, but shoot them off over the beach down the street from our house.  Unfortunately it was high tide this year, so I shot from the end of the street, but it was still really cool to walk less than 2 blocks to watch fireworks in what’s basically our backyard!

RI Airshow 2008

img_0868.jpg

Went to the RI Airshow on Saturday. We had a few members of my photography site come over to shoot it as well, then we had an awesome BBQ on the deck afterwards. We all had a ton of fun, and got some decent images even though it was hazy. Most of us also got sunburned pretty bad as well as we all forgot lotion in all the excitement. Enjoy the shots below!

Tuesday night mayhem?

Went out racing last night. Well “racing”. We drifted across the bay in NO WIND but actually, the boat sailed pretty well for the little wind we did have provided we kept it as heeled as possible. Our start was a non event with NO wind and we just sat there… There was an awesome storm system moving in the whole time and we sat…. and waited… and watched… and waited… Well then the wind filled in and we figured we should get back to the dock ASAP. We happened to go by photographer Amory Ross in his powerboat on the way back in and he shared some great shots he got of us with me. Thanks Amory!!! Be sure to check out his awesome site and his blog. He’s got some great shots from the Bermuda race start as well.
