Arrrrrrghh!!!

img_1371.jpg Elias the puddle pirate (waits to see how many people might get that…)?  There’s a story to this, but it’s long and involves internet jokes so just trust me it’s as funny as Elias is cute.  This week’s been fun though.  Elias licked everything in sight at Ikea last weekend while having a great time.  Yeah, we spent 7 hours away from home on that trip, which means 4 hours IN Ikea…. Anyway, we got a new bed (the primary objective, but if you’ve been to Ikea, you know you always end up with another cart full of “must haves”).  We really got sucked into the kids department as it was our first time there since Elias was born.  The long and the short of this is we got more new toys for Elias, but he brought home a cold.  That got both of us sick…  We’re getting over it pretty well now, but you’ll notice some wicked boogers in some of the shots of Elias this week.  He’s dealt with his cold pretty well but snores/gurgles a bit when he sleeps.

img_1433.jpgAs for this weekend, my parents were a huge help Saturday at the house.  Mom and Dad both offered to come over and help split the wood pile I had.  They even offered to rent the wood splitter which ended up being a giant help.  Dad and I looked at the pile and thought it’d be any easy half day job.  Well we split for 3.5 solid hours and didn’t even come close to finishing (maybe 2/3rds done?).  Lucky for us we’d also planned on sailing in the afternoon as a “reward” and one last sail on the little boat (it was Dad’s first time back out on sluff since we’d been run over).  There was, of course, NO WIND, but luckily it was just filling in enough to consider sailing.  We were both so desperate, we went anyway and had an awesome sail.  We basically “stole one” where we maybe missed a half hour on either end, but we would have been pushing it wind wise if we’d tried.  We ended up having a perfect sail where we were both on the high side the entire time, ZERO issues with the boat, and just a great time.

Oh, and there’s a little something tomorrow for me and Nikki!

Elias is 7 months old already?

img_1082.jpgWow, time flies when you’re changing diapers.  Elias turned 7 months on Thursday.  He’s really starting to get to the point where he’s fun now.  Or I should say where the fun times way outweigh the difficult times.  He can sit up on his own, and does all the time now.  He’s still scooting, but looks like he’ll be crawling soon (he’s up on all 4s a lot more).  He’s almost got teeth (his gums look different).  He actually likes to eat baby food most the time.

As for us, we still haven’t finished squaring away everything in the house yet from our in house move…  But we’re getting there.  We went to Ikea today and actually bought our first bed ever for me and Nikki…  I’ll be sure to get some pictures up of the house once everything’s situated.  But Elias seemed to like Ikea.  We picked up the tunnel in the picture there, and a few other cute toys.  He was a ladies man as usual meeting ~10 ladies from 17months to ~60.  Tomorrow Dad and I are racing the little boat for the last time of the season.  That should be fun as the forecast looks perfect.

Moving w/o moving is still a lot of work…

Moving you ask?  Well, Nikki and I have been playing with other ideas for the layout of our house.  We’ve been in the biggest bedroom upstairs, but that leaves Elias’ room on the way to ours.  The problem there is he has no real door to his room, so it’s noisy and bright.  That means we’d literally have to tip toe through the house when he was napping or just gone to bed.  We were considering moving him to the downstairs bedroom, but didn’t love the idea of having him on the first floor with us upstairs.  Then we realized we could move downstairs and he could have our room.  Out came the tape measure, and sure enough it could work.  So Saturday I went to Home CheapO and picked up some shades for our old room, then the moving began.  So, our room is his room.  The downstairs bedroom is our room.  My desk (which was in the downstairs bedroom until a month or so ago) is now in the corner of the living room (over the pet door for those that know where that is).  Elias’ room has the guest bed for now, but it’s looking like the entire upstairs will be his “play area” as it’s already gated off from the rest of the house, and the space is small enough, that’s a good use for it for now.  We’ve got the big bits moved, but the front room is still a bit of a mess with some details, and we’ll need to get some shelves up in Elias’ new room, and some down in our new bedroom.  But so far we really like it, and Elias slept in an hour later than usual this morning (but who knows, maybe he was just tired?).

Outside of that, a “hurricane” blew through offshore last night, so the surfs been up all weekend and it’s rained all weekend.  Debbie’s “51st” birthday is tomorrow, but the party was tonight, OH!!!! and when I walked into Elias’ (new, confused yet?) room this morning HE WAS SITTING UP IN THE CRIB!!!  That’s new to all of us, and will be trouble I’m sure.

Elias 28 week update.

too tired to write.

EAJ week 27 update.

Well Elias is still not yet crawling.  He’s a faster scooter though.  And he’s been talking up a storm lately as well.  He’s also eating more and more real food.  Unfortunately we were supposed to go to Block Island last weekend, and then again this weekend but it seems the weather doesn’t want us to go.  Last weekend it poured all weekend, and now it’s a rainy weekend again.  I went to the boatshow today with my parents, but we were pretty glad we didn’t go to block considering it rained Friday night (when we would have been on the ferry) and it’s forcasted to be foggy tomorrow.
