Elias keeps growing and growing!  He’s closer to crawling, and has this scooting thing down pretty well at this point.  He’s also starting to push himself up onto all 4s a lot more now.  He and Mo are getting to be good friends.  Well, maybe I should say Elias LOVES watching/touching Mo, and Mo puts up with it well.  Elias is also eating more solids and he actually wants to eat them now.

Elias 5 Month update.

Elias is getting bigger and more coordinated by the minute it seems.  He’s not crawling, but we fear that’s around the corner.  He can maneuver himself around the floor pulling himself along with his arms if he’s on a blanket, and he can continually roll himself over to get to things.  It’s fun to watch, we just know it means he’ll be getting into everything sooner rather than later and we need to get the house baby proofed ASAP.  He’s also getting much more coordinated with his legs thanks to the jumper.  He can stand up next to the couch until he reaches for things now and he can also sit up until he goes for something as well.

Oh, and the red dots?  Yeah, he got “attacked” in his crib one night when we didn’t need the AC (thanks to the cats clawing the screens).  He also picked up a few more on his legs outside at some point.  He doesn’t seem to mind, but we wish he didn’t have to deal with them.

Also, my mom has been doing his daycare for 2 days now as Debbies been on vacation.  She’s been enjoying spending some more time with Elias and he seems to enjoy it as well.  It’s also nice because my mom enjoys weeding enough our mulch beds are now 100% brown which is a first since the mulch went down.  THANKS MOM!

Elias’ 21 week update.

Elias seems to be growing and growing every day lately. We’re working on feeding him real food. He doesn’t seem to love it, but he does it about half of what goes in (the other half comes back out onto his bib). We’ve been doing rice cereal, but this week we’ve tried sweet potatoes and apples which both got not much interest and a bit of a curled nose. We’re using a new on table high chair (new to us anyway) that’s nice as it cleans up easier and has a tray that gets some of the food. Grandpa Jake also came over for dinner Thursday night and we had some of his 47″ striper he caught at block last weekend. He was amazed at how big Elias is getting and how much he’s moving. Today is actually the day he turns 5 months old as well. It’s amazing how fast time has flown by.

Edit:Katie, Matt and Hayden came over (with BEER AND PIZZA!!!) Saturday afternoon. He had a great time talking about all things baby boys and Hayden had a good time checking out toys he’d outgrown and giving Elias some old clothes. I think Katie is trying to convince someone it’s time to think about #2? Thanks guys!

Fishkabobs!!!

img_9065.jpg

Why fishkabobs? Because it’s a fisheye on a stick! Just having some fun with the camera, Nikki, Elias, and Moseley in the backyard tonight after work.   The stick is the tripod because I’m testing an idea for a monopod, but it’s all I have right now.  I was basically shooting these shots from ~6′ away using my remote release looking like a fool.  Moseley didn’t like the look and ran for cover anytime it was pointed his way.  Sterling on the other hand could have cared less and wanted to take a whiff of the setup.

Elias turns 20!

Well 20 weeks at least. It’s been another fun, eventful week around the house with Elias.  He’s getting more coordinated every day.  He can now grab things as he wants.  He can take is nuk out and put it back in (upside down most of the time though).  He’s rolling over every which way now and pretty much goes to his belly the instant he’s put down on his back.  He’s also learning to eat rice cereal with breast milk a bit better now.  He does make a mess of himself though.  There was some excitement this week as well.  The power went out in a big storm Wednesday night.  It was out from 4pm till 10am the next morning.  Debbie ended up taking Elias to her house for the day.

We also got our new refrigerator Saturday morning.  I have 289 shots taken one every minute during the cleanup of the old one through loading the new one.  I’ll have to figure out a way to make them into a movie as it’s pretty interesting to watch.  The old unit’s compressor was starting to go (leaking oil on the floor and not keeping the unit cold enough).  So we had to go get a new unit.  It’s nice having a new fridge, but it’s a big weird adjusting to where the doors are now.

I also found this guy hanging out in the backyard Saturday before I mowed the lawn (while picking up Mo’s land mines).  Moseley was out with me and didn’t even notice him until I put his nose right down to him…  Then he followed the toad around the yard for ~10 minutes cutting off it’s escape routes.  I grabbed the camera and was able to grab a few shots before the toad escaped under the deck.
