Fishkabobs!!!

img_9065.jpg

Why fishkabobs? Because it’s a fisheye on a stick! Just having some fun with the camera, Nikki, Elias, and Moseley in the backyard tonight after work.   The stick is the tripod because I’m testing an idea for a monopod, but it’s all I have right now.  I was basically shooting these shots from ~6′ away using my remote release looking like a fool.  Moseley didn’t like the look and ran for cover anytime it was pointed his way.  Sterling on the other hand could have cared less and wanted to take a whiff of the setup.

Elias turns 20!

Well 20 weeks at least. It’s been another fun, eventful week around the house with Elias.  He’s getting more coordinated every day.  He can now grab things as he wants.  He can take is nuk out and put it back in (upside down most of the time though).  He’s rolling over every which way now and pretty much goes to his belly the instant he’s put down on his back.  He’s also learning to eat rice cereal with breast milk a bit better now.  He does make a mess of himself though.  There was some excitement this week as well.  The power went out in a big storm Wednesday night.  It was out from 4pm till 10am the next morning.  Debbie ended up taking Elias to her house for the day.

We also got our new refrigerator Saturday morning.  I have 289 shots taken one every minute during the cleanup of the old one through loading the new one.  I’ll have to figure out a way to make them into a movie as it’s pretty interesting to watch.  The old unit’s compressor was starting to go (leaking oil on the floor and not keeping the unit cold enough).  So we had to go get a new unit.  It’s nice having a new fridge, but it’s a big weird adjusting to where the doors are now.

I also found this guy hanging out in the backyard Saturday before I mowed the lawn (while picking up Mo’s land mines).  Moseley was out with me and didn’t even notice him until I put his nose right down to him…  Then he followed the toad around the yard for ~10 minutes cutting off it’s escape routes.  I grabbed the camera and was able to grab a few shots before the toad escaped under the deck.

EAJ Week 19 Update!

img_8494.jpg

Another week, another update!  (Yes, the third in 2 days, but for those not checking regularly, they won’t know ;) )  This past week Elias has been learning some more new tricks.  Over these past 2 updates he’s learned to sleep w/o being swaddled and he’s learned to eat from a spoon…  Well his newest trick is to drink water from a real glass!!!  Nikki realize he was really watching her drink one night this week so she let him try it.  NO PROBLEMS!!!  He drinks right from a pint glass and it’s a lot of fun to watch!!!

We also had the Portuguese feast in Portsmouth with Debbie and Andy yesterday.  We went over for an awesome dinner of chourico sandwiches and fava beans.  It was delicious as usual.  We also ran into one of our infant care class instructors there which was fun.  She said we’re doing a great job so far!   Elias even tried to get a taste for the chourico himself, but didn’t succeed.

Tuesday night sunset!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Well this past Tuesday we had another beercan race. The wind dropped out pretty bad so our little boat didn’t do very well (it’s won’t by design, but our rating hurts as well leaving us over 8 minutes behind the guys in SECOND TO LAST!). We had a GREAT sail though, we played the shifts right on the beats leaving us close the the other guys, we just couldn’t hang downwind in the super light stuff. There was a gorgeous sunset though, luckily I’m rarely w/o a camera these days.

Week 18 update!

img_8395.jpg

Yes, this is the second of three updates coming this weekend… I know I know, I’m a terrible father for being so behind. NOT! The website/PAD project has actually been a lot of fun, I just hate doing the photoshop end of the photos because my computer is getting old/tired/slow, so that makes that end a bit of a chore, but it’s worth it in the end.

Anyway Elias is really becoming more and more a person each day now. He’s almost sitting up on his own. We can sit him up and he’ll use his hands to keep himself there for a bit. He’s also been watching us eat/drink a lot more lately, so we’ve started him with rice cereal with breast milk. He eats from a spoon easily enough (he knows the concept of opening the mouth and taking food from the spoon, but doesn’t always swallow what ends up in his mouth). It’s fun and messy so far. He’s also done with being swaddled now. He started by wanting his feet out the last few weeks. He’s been able to roll over for a month at least, but now he could roll over from his back (back to sleep!!!) to his belly swaddled and that wasn’t safe. So we unswaddled him and expected it to be horrible for all of us. Well he now rolls over onto his belly right away and passes out pretty quickly (just like me!). He’s been sleeping on his belly w/o being swaddled very soundly. He’s actually sleeping from ~10pm till ~6am now so Nikki is actually sleeping a normal night now as well. This has been a huge break through for all of us.
