Elias in his crib.
We’ve been trying to get Elias into his crib to sleep as much as possible lately. The swing works, but Nikki’s reading a book that suggests using a babies crib as much as possible. It makes a good point that sleeping in a living room is like sleeping in the middle of a department store. But it does take a little more work. In the swing he’d go to sleep after on burp after a feeding. Now it takes about 3 or 4 trips back on forth to get him settled. Once he is settle he’ll sleep for a few hours. My biggest argument to all this is the swing was working so well, and was needed so badly we bought a second on Tuesday night. Now we’re not using either swing. So we need to figure out what the plan is and stick to it so we can return the swing…
Elias week 5 update!
4/6/2008 Elias spent a lot of time in the swing today. He really seems to be at home in it. He loves the motion and it has a noise maker that plays the sound of the ocean that he also seems to like. We didn’t do much today since we got everything we needed to get done done yesterday. It was a fun day around the house doing nothing but hanging out with Elias and getting random things done.
4/7/2008 Elias and I get to spend some quality time together at night when I get home from work. I take him while Nikki showers, gets ready for bed and usually takes a nap. It’s fun for me because I get to figure him out w/o supervision. Some times I get it right, some times not, but it’s always great to spend time with him.
4/8/2008 Took this shot of Elias feet while Nikki was feeding him. They’re still tiny, but it’s amazing how fast they’re growing. He’s already grown out of some of his clothes and he’s into some that were way to big originally. Not sure how much bigger he is exactly, but it’s noticeable.
4/9/2008 Caught a few quick shots of Elias this morning before I had to leave to go to work… Nikki was burping him, but he was wide awake and having more fun making faces with me for the camera. He’s really starting to get some good expressions going. They’re hard to catch because he changes them every second, but it’s fun to watch him and try to catch them with the camera.
His eyes are still blue and his lips are looking like his dad’s and grandpa’s.
4/10/2008 Before I left for work this morning I grabbed the camera and snapped a picture of Elias with Nikki in bed. If you look back through the blog or PAD you’ll see a similar picture from the first day we were home with him. He’s obviously grown a lot since then.
Weekends, gotta love ‘em!
Yes another post declaring how awesome weekends are. For a bunch of reasons, but let’s start with the fact I get to spend more time at home with Elias. This also means Nikki has help and can get to more things she doesn’t have time for on weekdays. Nikki let me sleep in ’till 9am this morning. Then I got up and brought Elias downstairs so Nikki could catch her morning’s nap. Elias woke up around 11am for another feeding. Then we all got ready to go out to run some errands. We pickup up a new DVD from Block Buster. We then went to Bellini maternity to get Nikki a sling for holding Elias around the house (now that he’s 10+lbs, it gets tiring holding him fast!). On the way to Dave’s we noticed a place called super supper…
We stopped by to check them out, and it’s an interesting business idea. They premake meals for you. They have them frozen and 3 serving sizes and they have these buffets lined up with ~10 options for meals to make to take home and cooked. These serve ~6 people. The meals cost about what it would cost you to make them yourself at home actually and it saves you all the prep work which is awesome. The meal cost about $5 per serving for the frozen meals and only $3.50 per person for the fresh meals (but you buy more servings). This is definately something for us to try out in the future. We brought home their chicken pot pie for dinner tonight and it was quite good. We both had one serving, and the leftovers will be lunch at work one day this week.
Then we went to the grocery store for the usual. After that Nikki drove home to see how that felt. She did fine, but it was very weird for me to ride in the back of my own car. After that it’s been a bunch of hanging out and getting the blog caught up. We also caught Fargo on one of the HD channels after dinner. That’s when Nikki caught Karat napping on my lap with Elias.
Oh no, it’s almost midnight!
……..and I haven’t taken a picture yet!!! I was hanging out with Elias downstairs tonight. He was in his swing chillaxing and I was watching TV and doing some stuff online. I realized with just enough time to spare that I hadn’t taken a picture for the blog/PAD yet, so you’re stuck with this uncreative shot of him in the swing. The only light on in the room was the TV I believe… He LOVES his swing though. He’s been getting a little fussy lately and settles right down when we put him in his swing. Nikki’s felt a bit bad about it actually because she doesn’t want him to need the swing, but she called Debbie, who informed us Nikki was EXACTLY the same was as a kid… So for now he spends a lot of time moving. Carrying him around also works well, but with such a small house you get bored of walking in circles quickly. The swing has been a life saver. Or should I say swings? Debbie has a bunch of baby things at her house. A swing was one of them (check the easter post to see it again). Nikki had her bring it over so she can put him in it when she needs “personal time” upstairs! ![]()
Another Doctors Appt.?
You bet! This time Nikki had to go back to her doctor for a checkup… Everything is fine, but she’s still not back to 100%. Elias loves going places though. Anytime you put him in his car seat he settles right down. Once the car is moving he’s out like a light 99% of the time. It is weird though because Nikki rides in the back with him. So I’m a chauffeur…
