Catch up…

I’ve been super busy the last couple of weeks.  I started 2 projects on the house about a month ago that should be done, but are only 80% done at this point….  Nikki and I managed to register for all the baby gear we could even need at babies R us, but that took a whole day.  I helped my parents get ready to leave and get off the dock.  Then we had a busy last weekend getting the 2 projects to 60% and working on putting together some new Ikea stuff.  Then this weekend was Turkey day, and Friday and Saturday were spent getting those 2 projects from 60% to 80%.  Anything that could take a long time has and I’ve had more stupid issues than I’d care to share.  I ran out of grout 2″ from done, toilets don’t come with toilet seats, the faucet we bought didn’t come with handles (it was supposed to).  In looking for more grout, it took 4 hours to realize we were sold discontinued grout and we had to redo the grout.  It goes on but I won’t bore you.  We also picked up a few large items from Ikea that took hours to put together.  Then we had Nikki’s surprise Bday party last night, and now I get a call from my parents: “Can you fly to Bermuda tomorrow?” ….  “Ummm, sure?” So I got that OKed by Nikki, and I’m leaving for Bermuda at ~8:30am tomorrow morning.  I’ll be trying to get as much finished around the house tonight as I can before I leave so the house isn’t a complete mess.  Apparently Peter cut his finger while filleting a fish and had to get stitches.  Stitches have to stay clean/dry so he can’t sail to Antigua.  On short notice I’m the best option, so I’m going down tomorrow.  I’ll be back for next weekend (hopefully) when I’ll be finishing the rest of the crap around the house.  Then I’ll have more time to post the rest of what’s been going on, and hopefully get more pictures of Nikki to share.  On the update list (this is more for me to remember what I need to post):

  • Bathroom remodel project
  • Stairs projects
  • living room project
  • pictures of Nikki’s belly

Nikki’s 30th Birthday Party

IMG_3275.jpg

I managed to help coordinate a surprise 30th Birthday for my wife. I had a ton of help from her best friend (since birth) Katie, and he Parents Debbie and Andy. So if you guys are reading this, THANK YOU, as I didn’t do much at all except play dumb (and really, how hard is that for me). Katie mentioned something to me a few months back about doing “something big” for Nikki’s 30th. Nikki had been hinting forever that she’d like a surprise party at some point in here life… I’ve heard that since I’ve know her. When Katie mentioned this to me, I immediately though of doing a surprise. So I email Debbie and she had a ton of great ideas. We agree that the Saturday after thanksgiving would work well to trick Nikki. Her actually birthday is November 28th (and she called me to fix this… I wrote 30th because she turned 30, I know when it really is…), so I let her believe that the party was the next weekend. Nikki’s mom planned a turkey dinner at their house the Saturday after thanksgiving (we normally go over for turkey sandwiches anyway). So Nikki bought that and off we went. She had no clue anything was up until she saw a few cars in the driveway, and even then she just thought there were a few people over for dinner.

It still looks like a bow!!! Nikki after opening an interesting/adorable gift.

Well with a bit of work we all managed to pull it off. She got a ton of great presents and everyone had a great time. We also threw in Aunt Pat’s Bday (December 6th) and Uncle Russell’s (same day as Nikki). If you look at the cakes, there is one for Nikki with the big 3-0 and one for Pat and Russell with 117 on it. I’ll let you figure that one out.

THANKS AGAIN Debbie, Andy, and Katie!!!

Thanksgiving 2007

We had another fantastic thanksgiving at the Plumbs. For those of you not familiar with Nikki’s family, the plumbs are Pat and Ralph. Pat is Andy’s sister. The just finished their new house on Sandy Point in Portsmouth RI. We had an awesome time seeing the new place. It’s really come together quite well, as they have gotten it together very fast. As usual it was a large group of friends and family and it was great to get together with everyone again. The food, as usual, was outstanding. A Packers win was icing on the cake!

The December issue rolled in today. Just in time to go with me on the delivery. Still haven’t skied yet, and I’m getting antsy at this point.
