Red Sox 2007: World Series Champs!

Sox8.jpg

Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? Well it’s been another awesome Red Sox season. I’m not a huge baseball fan. I watch early in the season, but once the summer starts I’m too busy to watch much. I love the Red Sox though, it’s hard not to in RI. Post season baseball is always a blast because I have time to watch, and the games really mean something. The Red Sox had another tough ALCS and pulled it out in 7, then dominated the Rockies. Great games to watch, but it’s like having a second job. I borrowed a few of my favorite shots from their site. I also made a banner for the site with some of the images. Now I’ll have to go spend ~$60 to get myself the hat and shirt…

Fall.

Nikki and I decided to go out to Goddard Park Sunday to enjoy a bit of fall and take some pictures. We took Moseley with us as always, and he was having a blast running around in the leaves. It was a very busy weekend for me. I spent Friday and Saturday down in Myrtle Beach with my Dad and Grandma setting up her awesome new HDTV. I watch all of the world series games, and the Patriots game. Whole Foods opened a new store in Cranston, so we did our weekly shopping there Sunday morning. I’ve also been working on 2 projects around the house, redoing the downstairs half bath, and painting our stairs… I got the crown molding up in the bath, and it’s starting to look good. Nikki and I were too tired by the end of the night to take any new belly shots, so hopefully some time this week we can get some more taken.

Grandma’s New HDTV:

Dad and I flew down to Grandma’s house Friday morning to help setup her new HDTV. She is a huge sports fan, and my Dad suggested getting anHD set when he was down there for her 88th birthday in early October. They went to Best Buy and picked out a set and setup a delivery and geek squad installation. The TV arrived earlier this week and was “set up”, then the geeks were to come Friday to get it really setup. Dad and I decided to fly down to make sure everything was right, and to help Grandma get accustomed to the new TV for a few days.

Dad and I had an adventuresome morning on the way to our 5:40am flight from Logan. We had both stayed up too late the night before watching the Sox win game 3 so we were working on less sleep than needed. We drove his car (which is awesome, and fantastic on the highway) up to Boston. We got off on the exit for the airport, and right where it splits, the ramp to the airport was closed… No warnings (that we saw) at all so we ended up going the other way on the mass pike. In the end it worked out well because we had to go to a toll booth where the collector pointed us in the right direction. We made it in plenty of time. We ended up on a plane that was full, half of which were people who were lucky enough to go to one or both of the games.

We got down to Myrtle Beach bright and early. Grandma picked us up and took us to breakfast on the way home. We got to her condo with just enough time as the geek squad was right on time and called maybe 30 minutes after we walked in the door. I’m the first person to doubt these types of services, but these guys were amazing. The real advantage they offer is they know all the settings and they know all the HD sources in the area. They came in and set the entire thing up to work perfectly with her specific HD cable source. They knew all the settings and we would never have gotten half of that done as well as they had. Once they set everything up and left I fine tuned the TV’s video settings to get it perfect. Let’s just say after spending only 2 days there, my TV now looks horrible…

After they left, Dad and I spent 2 days working with Grandma getting her used to the new TV and digital cable. She did amazingly well picking it all up, as I can remember having to adjust to all that myself when we got digital cable and a DVR, now she’s learning it all at once. We got to watch some great college football with her, the breeders cup and some other great HD programs before we had to leave. I was sure to set her up to automatically switch to and tape the world series and the Packers game on Monday night just in case she falls asleep. Dad’s already checked up on her twice, and so far she’s had no problems with the new setup.

We had an eventless flight home and didn’t miss much of game 3 on the way. We watched up to the Sox getting up 6-0 in the bar in the airport, then when we landed it was 6-2 and we caught the rest of the game on the way home. We both wished we had more time to spend with Grandma, and we wish we could have watched the Packers game tonight with her.

Week 22 update:

baby5.jpg

We’ve been pregnant for almost 22 weeks now and today was another monthly update. We found out the sex, IT’S A BOY!!!. Nikki’s been going back and forth the whole time on it. Today in the doctors office she was thinking girl. Every family party we go to everyone seems to come to a consensus, but it’s always different. We’ve both always wanted 1 of each and haven’t really cared what it is except so we can stop with the “it”s and get down to naming him. Even if we do have a name picked out we’re not telling. I also added a baby count down on the top left of the blog. It’s counting down to the due date and up from the conception date.

I-Way!

Iway is a project in Providence where they’re redoing the I-195 and I-95 interchange. They’re about to open the first stage (95N to 195E) next week. Before they did that, they were nice enough to open the bridge for walkers. Nikki, my Mom and I decided to go check it out (Dad was home with a bum knee). We had a great time and enjoyed the walk… After that Mom and Dad were nice enough to come to my house to help with 2 DIY projects I have going. I’ll be posting more on those once I’m done with them. We’re redoing our downstairs half bath and painting our stairs.
