Point Judith Light
Well, so far I’m 2 for 2 in waking up for the rest of the week. I decided today to go try Point Judith light. It’s a nice looking lighthouse right on the south western corner of the bay. It was a pretty gray moring w/o a good sunrise (I had to check my watch to verify it was up and I indeed couldn’t see it!) and once the sun was up a bit, the fog actually got worse. So I didn’t get a lot of awesome shots today, but that’s the way it goes when you’re at the mercy of mother nature.
Hazard Road III:
We’re on vacation this week, and I came to the realization last night that I’d be more fun to go to sleep early (with Nikki) and wake up early (3:30am) and get some more sunrise shots this week. So I’m going to try to get a sunrise every morning for the rest of the week, but we’ll see how long I can last getting up that early and how well the weather co-operates. This morning was Hazard Road, yes, again, but it’s kind of like my muse I guess? There’s the one shot there that’s just amazing, and it’s an easy decision that early in the morning. The weather played VERY NICE this morning as it was a great sunrise, but then just before I went to leave the rain rolled in. I was actually shooting with thunder in the background! I also accidentally took a few videos while messing around with Live view on the camera, so I decided to intentionally shoot enough to put together a movie (yes I watch too much sunrise earth):
Hey Mr Gellert, WE’RE ON VACATION!!!!!
Most of you probably have no idea what that title’s all about, but Nikki and I are on vacation for a week… 2 days are already gone, but we’ve had some fun already. This weekend was the RI airshow which is basically in our back yard. So we had some friends over for that. Today was a catchup day so Nikki went for a long run and I went for a long ride. I also managed to get some shooting in while Elias was napping. Then we all went for a nice walk. After that is was time for some grilling and we even had another fire in the pit and even made some s’mores tonight.
We don’t really have a whole lot planned this week more than having fun with Elias and getting out of the house a bit. The beach, the zoo, the childrens museum, all those things we haven’t had time for. I also have a few things to get done around the house and then on my sites as well. So hopefully we don’t run out of time too soon!
Sachuest Bird Sanctuary
Went out Saturday morning and had another sunrise shoot. We went to Sachuest Point bird sanctuary. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoy Sachuest as there’s a ton of things to shoot beside landscapes if the weather doesn’t play nice or if you just want a change. There’s animals everywhere and they’re all pretty relaxed.
RI Airshow 2009
Well the anual airshow was this weekend. It’s always a bunch of fun as it’s basically in out back yard. We have friends over every year and a BBQ after. This year didn’t disapoint and we had great weather/clouds for shooting. The tide was a bit of a PITA in that it came up higher than expected/needed meaning we had to move towels twice. There was another group that got the spot we wanted and of course they stayed dry the entire time. I also caught a second showing today. I was out riding my bike and saw the F22, P-51 and what I think was a mig flying RIGHT over my head, so I darted home, grabbed the camera and caught the snowbirds and blue angels a second time during Elias’ nap.
